Riding Lessons at Good Pickin’

Good Pickin’ Farm offers Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and Intermediate horseback riding lessons given by Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructors. Students will learn about horsemanship, grooming and tacking, and, of course riding.

We share our love of horses, our love of learning and the excitement of being on horseback to students of all ages and levels.  We are not a show barn or a competitive barn.  Our approach is to meet our students where they are - we are all about having fun, and guiding our students to develop confidence, responsibility and foster a love of horses.

We operate on a session-to-session basis. We are committed to the health and happiness of our horses - Sundays & Mondays are the horses “rest days” to frolic with their friends in their paddocks.

  • $50 per ride

Pony Pals is a 30 minute grooming and horsemanship lesson with a ride around the ring.. This is a delightful program for “littles” to build confidence around ponies and have fun!

  • $85 per lesson

These 45 minute private Horseback riding lessons are offered to all students who prefer to receive individual instruction. We strongly recommend that first time riders choose a private lesson until they are able to safely and independently maneuver their horse in the arena while others are also riding.

  • $70 per person per lesson

These 45 minute semi-private Horseback Riding Lessons are offered to students at the discretion of the instructor. This program is for advanced beginner to intermediate students. Students must be able to steer the horse at a trot independently. Semi-private lessons allow students an opportunity to learn from others, foster friendships and play games.

  • The best equestrians are well-rounded in their knowledge about horses in their entirety. For most, riding is the highlight of being a horse person. But a true equestrian learns all about horses, such as their physical and nutritional needs, anatomy, first aid, breeds, disciplines and SO much more. In other words, fine equestrians know lots more that just how to ride. And that makes them BETTER RIDERS.

  • Mondays, 10am
    $15 per person

Each week we will hear a horse-related story, and then participate in a craft and pony ride! Class is for children 18 months-5 years with a parent/guardian.

What People Are Saying

Good Pickin’ Farm is an amazing place! I first started out going there for a summer camp and loved the environment. I started taking lessons and next thing I knew I was also volunteering with barn chores. I also lease a horse there. Everyone at Good Pickin’ Farm is wonderful, they are all so kind and helpful. The horses are amazing and well behaved and very well taken care of. If you are thinking of going to Good Pickin’ Farm you will love it .

“I love that I get to spend time with the horses! Cara is such a good instructor - she does a lot of fun things with us and she’s really nice. I love the ponies at the barn - Greda is my favorite, but I ride Simba for my lessons.
