Our Program Offerings

Good Pickin’ Farm provides mounted and unmounted programs for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our dedicated team consists of PATH International Certified and Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructors. Students will gain knowledge in horsemanship, grooming, tacking, and, of course, riding.

We are passionate about sharing our love for horses and learning, as well as the thrill of horseback riding with students of all ages and abilities. Our facility is not a competitive or show barn. Instead, we focus on meeting our students where they are, emphasizing fun while helping them build confidence, responsibility, and a genuine love for horses.

Ground-Based Horsemanship Programs

Your equestrian journey starts here.

Riding is just one aspect of the equestrian experience! We also provide ground-based horsemanship lessons, allowing students to explore horse care, handling, and groundwork. By understanding horse behavior and creating a partnership with your horse, you’ll receive an excellent introduction to the world of equines.

While riding can occasionally induce anxiety, gaining knowledge about your horse from the ground up fosters self-confidence and mindfulness. After mastering these essential skills, riders can progress to mounted lessons.

Ground-based horsemanship classes also offer a fantastic opportunity for those looking to return to riding or for individuals who may not be medically fit to safely engage in mounted activities.

  • Mindful Connections - Reconnecting with Yourself

    Target Age Group: Adults

Because horses cannot speak, the connection between horses and humans is unique and valuable because they teach us to communicate through clear and significant gestures. This experience enlightens us about the messages we send through our body language, not only to horses but also within our social circles as well. Target Age Group: Teens

Our emotions, whether they stem from frustration or anxiety, are mirrored back to us through the eyes of our equine companions. When we feel overwhelmed, horses either resonate with our frustration or swiftly move away from the negativity. These moments serve as invaluable teaching opportunities! Observing a horse's reaction prompts us to pause and manage our emotions. And the best part? These skills carry over into our everyday lives!

These horses act as emotional sponges, absorbing everything, yet they are also the most non-judgmental friends you could ever hope for. In a world where learning to get along with others can feel like a monumental challenge, these majestic gentle giants provide a comforting and stable presence.

When a person reaches a level of confidence with such a large animal, it instills a belief that they can accomplish anything. What other feats might they achieve that once seemed impossible? The feeling of having a 1200lb animal follow you around is truly magical! Words become unnecessary when witnessing that profound connection —it is pure joy.
