Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is the tour?

    It depends on the tour!

    • Our Barnyard Brush tours are either 45 minutes or 90 minutes.

    • Goat Hikes are about 1 hour.

    • Private Pony Rides are 30 minutes.

    What happens during a tour?

    • Barnyard Brush Tours: We visit as many animals as you’d like during the allotted time. You can choose to spend the entire time in just one animal pen if you’d like!

    • Goat Hike: Walk through the farm’s trails with a farmer and our herd of silly, goofy goats together. It can be as slow or easy as you’d like.

    • Private Pony Ride: Help us brush the pony and get him/her ready for the ride, then go for a couple loops around the ring!

    • For a full list, please see below.

Can we feed or hold the animals?

It depends on the animal. The goats love attention - to be pet, snuggled, hugged and to climb on top of you. Chickens don’t mind being held, and we can offer a cup of scratch grain or meal worms to had feed the birds. The rabbits prefer to be pet and climb into your lap on their own terms, but the baby bunnies don’t mind being held! The bunnies also love it when we stop in the herb garden to grab some treats for them to eat. The sheep and alpaca love to eat out of our hands, but shy away from being pet most of the time. If you’re lucky - maybe one of them will give you a kiss! The pigs LOVE belly rubs and flop on their side when you tickle their bellies.

Is this tour suitable for any age?

YES! All of our programs are for all ages.

    Can we take photos?

Of course! Feel free to tag us on social media, too - @goodpickinfarm

Can I stop by the farm to look at the animals without scheduling a tour?

    Short answer: No.

We are only open for schedule programs/classes/events or private tours.

In order to ensure the safety of our animals and visitors, we ask that you do not drop by unannounced - thank you!!

  • Are tours available year-round?

Yes! The animals are happy to have visitors any time of the year. For the most part, tours are available weekends only, as we have our educational programs or summer camps running during the weekdays.

What should we wear or bring?

We recommend wearing clothing that you’re comfortable with getting dirty - we are a farm of course! Boots are always a good idea.

Do you cancel for bad weather, or do tours run rain or shine?

We want you to have the best experience here for your tour. For Barnyard Brush tours, we are happy to run them no matter the weather, however if you prefer to reschedule that is completely fine for us! Goat Hikes need to be rescheduled if there is rain - goats think they will melt if they get just one drop of water on them! Pony Rides should be rescheduled, unless you prefer to switch to a Pet-A-Pony instead, where you spend the 30 minutes in the barn with the horse.

  • Is the farm accessible for strollers or wheelchairs?

Yes, for the most part, though we do not have paved driveways or walking areas. We do recommend baby carriers vs. strollers in order to make your experience better.

Can we bring food or drinks?

Yes, though if you plan to stay to eat after your tour, please let us know in advance, as we have many activities/events running where our picnic tables are in use.

Is there a restroom available during the tour?

Yes, we have port-a-potties around the farm as well as handwashing stations.

Where should we park when we arrive?

For our private tours, you are welcome to park at the Big Red Barn across from the grey farmhouse.

Can we bring our dog or other pets?

No - we do not allow any outside animals on the farm, thank you for understanding!

  • How far in advance should I book?

This really depends on the season we’re in (spring with lots of farm babies gets booked up fast!), the weather and what type of tour you’re looking to book. Sometimes last-minute bookings are available and sometimes it’s best to schedule a few weeks in advance - it depends on your group’s preferences.

    What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to reschedule your tour, you are welcome to do so up to 24 hours in advance.

There are no refunds for cancelled or missed tours.

    Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes we do! They are at the bottom of the list of tour options when selecting your tour.

  • All of our tours are private for your group. Most of our tours are for up to 5 people, while others such as the goat hike are good for up to 8 people. You can always add extra people for all tours! Anyone going into an animal pen or going for a hike counts as part of your group except for babies in a carrier.
