Good Pickin' Farm Riding Program Policies
If you're unable to make it to your scheduled lesson, please give us as much notice as possible—ideally at least 24 hours in advance. You can contact our Program Director, Jen Wright, at 978-463-7446.
Advance notice helps us tremendously by ensuring our horses and ponies aren’t tacked up unnecessarily, and it allows our staff to make the best use of their time. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and understanding—it makes a big difference for both our team and our animals!
Billing and Cancellations:
Good Pickin’ Farm offers Fall, Winter, and Spring horseback riding lessons. Payment is due in full for the session at the time of registration. Unfortunately, we do not offer make-ups for classes missed, so kindly ensure in advance that the dates and details work best for your schedule.
Inclement Weather:
Learning about horsemanship is a fundamental part of learning how to ride. We integrate this valuable part of training into our program when riding is not possible due to inclement weather. Lessons are not cancelled due to inclement weather.
Inclement weather and/ or conditions will be determined at the digression of the instructor. Determining factors include weather (heat, cold, wind, precipitation) and ring conditions (wet, icy, muddy).
Attire:
For the safety of our students and horses, proper riding attire is required. All students must wear a shoe or a boot with a heel, long pants or britches, and a helmet while mounted. Riding boots, which have a proper heel and smooth sole, are highly recommended. Winter boots, rubber boots, and sneakers are not considered proper footwear because they present severe and potential safety issues (the rubber tread can get caught in the stirrup). If the student does not arrive in proper riding attire, we will teach horsemanship class instead.
(We have partnered with a local small business, "Horseman's Exchange," located in Littleton center, which has graciously offered a discount to our students on riding apparel, equipment, and boots. (Due to manufacturers' restrictions, discounts are not allowed on helmets.)
Notes:
Lessons are offered to students ages six and above. We welcome kiddos under six years old to participate in our “Pony Pals” class!
