What is Mindful Trails?

At Mindful Trails, we believe in the transformative power of horses, nature, and meaningful connection. Our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized, and group equine assisted services (EAS) that foster emotional growth, resilience, and well-being. Through EAS and nature based experiences, we create a nurturing environment where individuals and groups of all ages can build confidence, develop coping skills, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them. We are committed to empowering each unique journey toward healing, self-awareness, and lasting positive change.

Why Horses?

Horses offer several unique advantages. Their size alone provides a powerful opportunity for individuals to confront fears and build confidence. Much like humans, horses experience a wide range of emotions and are intuitive, social creatures with distinct personalities, attitudes, and moods. They establish roles within their herds that closely mirror human group dynamics.

Because of these similarities, horses can help teach and reflect essential life skills such as self-awareness, honest communication, trust, healthy boundaries, leadership, patience, assertiveness, play, affection, nurturing, and more. Most importantly, horses have the remarkable ability to mirror human body language, offering powerful metaphors and insights that help facilitate personal growth and change.

Horses…

  • don’t see a person as sick or healthy

  • live in the now and they provide a moment of independence, a moment away from illness

  • are herd animals and are great at reading non-verbal cues

  • can often serve as a metaphor, in addition to being a catalyst to bring up issues

  • Mindful Connections - For Children

    Children will meet, groom and walk a horse while gaining confidence, decision making skills, self-awareness, trust, empathy and mindfulness. Social Emotional Learning includes problem-solving with a group, social skills development, compassion for yourself and your equine partner, positive reinforcement and encouragement, patience, connecting with nature and creating a sense of honest self-awareness in a no-judgement setting.
