Our Philosophy
Here at the Barn we take pride in our horses and our environment. We believe that a positive connection between horses and people greatly enhance the lives of both. We strive to provide the best possible care for our horses in an unhurried and friendly environment. We endeavor to provide a relaxed environment where a horse can be a horse – with turn out offered in compatible groups, a pasture management plan that includes seasonal grazing on our beautiful fields, and plenty of engagement with people as well as other horses and farm animals. Our boarders enjoy expanding their knowledge of horses and horsemanship with seasonal offerings of clinics and talks on equine related topics. We also enjoy ground work and riding in the large outdoor sand ring, the large fields on the property and the miles of gorgeous conservation trails available right off the property. We strive to help our horses be settled, well mannered, and calm and believe that being located at Good Pickin’ Farm at Meadowbrook provides a unique recreational and learning environment for both horse and rider.
It is our goal to expand our equine program to include lessons and lesson horses in the upcoming year.
Barn Norms
These norms are created to provide both horses and people with a safe and healthy environment in which to learn and grow together.
The Barn at Good Pickin’ Farm strives to schedule seasonal learning opportunities for furthering our understanding of horses and horse care for employees, boarders, and the public. We also offer regular opportunities for social interaction, such as trail riding, games in the ring, and social get togethers. Boarders are encouraged to participate in the life of the barn. The Barn at Good Pickin’ Farm is open to boarders every day of the year and use of the ring and surrounding property for riding is encouraged. Boarders have unlimited access to their horses and the barn facilities. The Barn is open to the public for pre-scheduled and staffed events.
